My treatment rooms are all designed to give you a relaxing atmosphere to have your treatment in. As you lie on my couch, I link up with the Reiki energy and during your treatment, you will feel the warmth of my hands as the Reiki energy passes through me to you. How does distant Reiki work?
Reiki is an energy treatment and during training, I have been attuned to receive the Reiki energy and pass it to the person I’m working with. During training to practitioner level, one of the many things we learn is how to send Reiki over time and space. The ability to send Reiki to someone who is not in the room with you is an important part of the training. It allows the practitioner to give support to anyone, anywhere in the world and at any time. Giving a treatment in this way is known as distant or distance Reiki. A distant Reiki treatment can be an effective way of having a reiki treatment if you can’t visit a practitioner for an in-person treatment.
Why have a distant reiki treatment?
Taking the time out to physically visit me for a treatment is an important part of any self-care regime and adds to the whole experience of the treatment. Sadly, during the Covid-19 pandemic with social distancing and lockdown, hands-on treatments have not been possible. So, how a reiki treatment was given had to be addressed.
Here are some of the reasons people typically book a distant Reiki treatment with me: –
- For those who have a Reiki treatment as part of their self-care for mental and emotional health and wellbeing, these last 12 months have been challenging. Being able to have a distant Reiki treatment has been invaluable to them.
- Clients who have moved away and can’t come to me for a hands-on treatment can still enjoy reiki by booking a distant Reiki treatment.
- For those who have family or work commitments that mean they can’t book a treatment during the times I’m available at my treatment room, a distant Reiki session can be arranged outside of these hours.
- For anyone who, due to health reasons is housebound or finds it difficult to visit me for a hands-on session, then a distant Reiki treatment works well for them too.

What happens during a distant Reiki treatment?
All practitioners work in slightly different ways, but this is how I work. For your first treatment with me, we will have a Zoom call (or something similar) so that we can meet each other, and a full consultation can be done.
The session itself starts at an agreed time and lasts for about 40 minutes. During this time, you will be sitting or lying down in a relaxing place where you will not be disturbed. Also, have a glass of water ready for the end of your session. To enhance your treatment, I’ll suggest that you make your environment as warm and cosy as possible by dimming the lights and having a blanket to cover you. To help reduce any distractions around you, you may want to play some soft music too.
When you book your treatment, I will ask you what your healing intentions are for this session and I will work with my Reiki guides and Archangels for this. With you in mind, I will create a relaxing environment for me to work from. I will then link in with your energies and start sending Reiki energy to you. After about 35 minutes I will stop sending Reiki energy and you will remain in your relaxed position for a few minutes to slowly come round and drink your glass of water. I will then ring you for a quick chat to find out how you felt, let you know my observations and go through some aftercare advice.
How you might feel
Everyone is different but what you may experience is very similar to a hands-on treatment. Here are some of the things clients have told me they have experienced: –

Keep in mind that just like a hands-on Reiki treatment, some people don’t feel anything during a Reiki session which is okay, because the energy can be very subtle. The Reiki is still working for your highest good and for your best outcomes. Again, like a hands-on treatment, you may notice slight shifts over the coming days.
