Clinical Reflexology to Help Resolve Stress & Anxiety
How Can We Help?
What is Reflexology and How does it Work?
Reflexology is an ancient art dating back thousands of years. It was first practised by the Indian, Chinese and Egyptian peoples.
Reflexology works on the principle that all organs and glands of the body are represented by reflex points on the feet, hands, ears and face. By applying pressure to these points your body can start the process of balancing and harmonising your systems and organs.
It’s well documented that our stress and anxiety levels reduce when we are feeling relaxed and a reflexology treatment has a very relaxing effect on both the mind and body so will help you to de-stress.
People I have helped using reflexology treatments include those:-
- Experiencing physical aches and pains
- With fertility problems
- Menopause symptoms (mental and physical)
- With a digestive disorder
- Feeling mentally overwhelmed, stressed, anxious
- Experiencing problems sleeping
- Who are in a constant state of fatigue
Foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is based on the principle that all organs and glands of the body are represented by a reflex point on the feet. By applying pressure to these points the body can start the process of self-balancing.
It’s a relaxing, non-intrusive treatment that prompts inner balance, peace and harmony.
Facial reflexology
Facial reflexology has its origins in the Vietnamese system of facial acupressure but it is a less invasive and an excellent alternative to facial acupuncture. Just as foot reflexology works on the basis that the body is represented in the feet; facial reflexology works on the principle that the body is represented on the face. Using gentle pressures and stroking techniques, facial reflexology releases tension in facial muscles and also in your body, mind and emotions.
After a reflexology treatment clients tell me they feel deeply relaxed, have more mental focus and feel uplifted and positive.
Regular Reflexology for Your Wellbeing
Reflexology is known for its ability to access all our body systems and by doing so it helps to restore mental, emotional and physical balance.
When our body systems are balanced, the frequency of becoming ill reduces. Regular treatments will assist in the early detection of minor illnesses and therefore will affect the number of days you feel unwell.
This non-intrusive treatment is also great at helping you to manage physical and emotional symptoms from aching muscles, menopause symptoms, headaches, anxiety or stress. Reflexology is ideal if you are looking for something to help you mentally and physically relax, refocus and de-stress.

Reflexology – Reducing Carers’ Stress
A recent randomised controlled trial carried out in an oncology unit of a university hospital evaluated the short-term effect of foot reflexology on sleep and anxiety in 66 informal caregivers.
The results of the study showed that foot reflexology had a large effect on anxiety and a medium effect on sleep. The authors concluded that foot reflexology was found as an effective intervention to reduce anxiety and improve the quality of sleep of informal cancer caregivers. The effect of a placebo on reducing the anxiety of informal caregivers was found, but it wasn’t as effective as reflexology.
